Position Summary

The Department of Visual Arts at Anne Arundel Community College is seeking qualified candidates for Web Design part-time Instructors to teach one to two courses per semester in person. 

The Web Design Instructor is responsible for teaching and supporting students in developing essential skills and knowledge in the foundations of web design. 

The Web Design Instructor will collaborate with the department and follow the curriculum guidelines, while also bringing industry expertise and insights to enhance the learning experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Teach web design courses according to the college's established curriculum and schedule, ensuring adherence to learning objectives and course outcomes. 

Plan and deliver engaging lectures, presentations, and demonstrations to facilitate student understanding of web design concepts, principles, best practices, and ethical design decisions.  

Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work, encouraging growth and improvement in web design skills. 

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student engagement, critical thinking, and collaboration. 

Assist students in developing proficiency in text editors, HTML, CSS, semantic markup, and file management. 

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress in compliance with college policies. 

Provide regular communication and availability to answer student questions. 

Follow college policies and guidelines regarding academic integrity, student conduct, and classroom management. 

Required Qualifications:

Candidates should have a master's degree and at least two years' full-time professional work experience in front-end web design, OR a bachelor's degree and five years' work experience.  

Proficiency in standards-compliant semantic HTML, current CSS techniques including flexbox, and image editing software.  

Strong understanding of design principles, usability, accessibility, and responsive design techniques. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and support students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. 

Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and incorporate active learning strategies. 

Passion for teaching and motivating students, fostering their creativity and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching in higher education or industry training programs is preferred but not required. 

Master's degree preferred.
