Salary Range: $50 per class meeting hour

Work Mode: This position requires some regular in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations, depending on business needs of the office.

Position Summary

The English Language Learning program is seeking part-time instructors to teach in our Community Interpreter Certificate program:

We are currently seeking instructors to teach evening classes in Arnold, or Hanover, MD.

Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to give a short teaching demonstration. Please mention your schedule availability and location preferences in your cover letter.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Instructors will teach WLS-325 and WLS-326 (Foundations of Community Interpreting Parts 1 & 2). In addition to teaching, instructors are responsible for:
assessing and recording student progress and attendance, meeting required deadlines for submitting grades and other administrative tasks, and participating in department professional learning events.

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelors degree (masters degree preferred)
-Language proficiency in at least two languages (ACTFL Advanced High or above, or equivalent)
-40-hour community interpreter Train the Trainer course, to be completed before or prior to June 30, with department funds to cover the cost of training (https://Iearn.tcio.net/ccc_engIish/the-community-interpreterr-internationa1-train ing-of-trainers-spring-2025.html)
-Professional simultaneous and/or sequential interpreting experience
-Adult education or teaching experience in both face-to-face and online formats
