Title: Mechanical Technology Instructor/HVAC and Plumbing

Department: Apprenticeship & Applied Learn

Campus Location: Arnold/Main Campus

Salary Range: $45/hr

Work Mode: This position requires regular in-person presence on campus and at alternative locations, depending on class schedule and other assigned duties.

Work Schedule: Daytime hours/8am-4pm

Position Summary

Part time faculty position located in the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades on the Arnold campus. Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in HVAC and Plumbing trades. The instructor is expected follow the provided curriculum outline and learning expectations in regular increments and timeline. Content for course is both lab based and theoretical. Instructional guidelines, learning materials, and content are hosted in on-line learning platforms. Training and support for new instructors is provided before and during instructional terms. Instructors must have expertise in the trade and the ability to effectively manage a group training/learning environment. Some basic computer experience (email, web browsing, basic communication and organization) is also required. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. A desire to share your knowledge of the industry with future skilled trades workers is a must! Instructors will be required to adhere to Anne Arundel Community College’s Part Time Faculty Instructional policies and procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare materials needed for course instruction, labs, testing, supplies;
• Provide basic lab maintenance and track inventory of equipment and tools utilized;
• Relate instruction and material to course objectives;
• Familiar with NEC code book as appropriate;
• Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, personal safety and power/hand tool safety;
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, other faculty and staff;
• Submit grades, attendance, reports and records in a timely manner

Required Qualifications:

• Journeyman/Master license or Journeyman level of knowledge in HVAC and Plumbing trade;
• Safety Awareness and knowledge of NEC Code book as appropriate;
• Thorough knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools and equipment used in the trade
• High School degree or equivalent
• 5 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred
Forklift experience/certification preferred

Event Assistant

The Event Assistant/Event Scheduler serves as the initial contact for internal and or community non-academic scheduling requests and schedules space for external customers; provides information to requesters regarding event scheduling policies and procedure; assist Manager of Event and Food Services with accounts receivable. The Office Operations/IRB Coordinator will provide essential clerical and organizational support to the Associate Vice President (AVP) to ensure effective and efficient operation of the PRIA office.
