Position Summary

In collaboration with the Massage Therapy (MAS) Academic Chair, the clinical coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the on-campus Student Massage Clinic. The clinical coordinator coordinates the clinic’s operations to include but not limited to communicating with faculty, staff, students, and the community and coordinating and supervising students in the clinic. In addition, the clinical coordinator is responsible for establishing a service-learning component for the students’ clinical experience, to include but not limited to, networking with community partners to coordinate chair massage events and supervising students participating in these off-campus events. The clinical coordinator is responsible for tracking job placement of program graduates and identifying potential employers to assist program graduates with job placement. The clinical coordinator teaches 20 FLH in the MAS curriculum per academic year, including the summer term.

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Job Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical administration and teaching: In collaboration with the Mas academic chair, creates the student massage clinic each semester to include but not limited to scheduling students to work in the student clinic, ensuring that each student reaches their clinical hour requirement for each semester, scheduling faculty members to assist with clinical supervision as needed, utilize the scheduling software to book clinic appointments and send notifications to the college community, ensuring that all clinic appointments have been filled (this includes finding clients for last minute cancellations and no-shows.) The clinical coordinator will develop lectures and/or labs to assist with student readiness for the clinic and develop and implement remediation for students as needed and provide instruction as assigned by the MAS academic chair.

Clinic operations and supervision: Responsible for supervising clinic shifts which may include day, evening and/or weekend hours and tracking student attendance to ensure each student completes the required clinical hours each semester. Guide students through their challenges in the clinic, provide individual feedback and evaluate students. Ensures the clinical experiences affords students an opportunity to practice skills within a protected environment while preparing them for professional practice after graduation. Communicate with clinic clients, providing them with realistic expectations for the massage session. Collects clinic donations and prepares the cash and check donations for deposits to the AACC Cashier. Maintains appropriate client records in accordance with HIPAA.

Learning Outcome Assessment: Assist the MAS academic chair with ensuring the effectiveness of clinic instruction by supervising students during the clinical components of the curriculum. Maintains clinical records for MAS students including but not limited to managing hours and assignments. In collaboration with the MAS academic chair, manage the creation, distribution, collection, and analysis of surveys from students, graduates, and employers to assess learning and program outcomes. Assists with program and course assessments to comply with AACC’s Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA.)

Recruitment and Advisement: Conducts program information sessions and attends marketing events to promote the program and recruit students. Actively participates as a member of the AACC Massage Therapy Advisory Board and serves on School of Health Sciences and College committees. Advises students throughout their progression in the program, providing guidance and support to ensure their success. Create service-learning opportunities for students by seeking out and responding to requests for off-campus chair massages. Supervise students participating in these off-campus chair massage service-learning opportunities.

Career Placement and Alumni Outreach: Responsible for creating a method for accurately tracking job placement of program graduates, and obtaining job placement data for each cohort, as required for the COMTA Annual Report. Maintain a current list of alumni. Network with potential employers and serves as a liaison between employers and students, making students aware of employment opportunities.

Other: Performs other duties as assigned by the MAS academic chair, Assistant Dean, and/or Dean. Maintains licensure as a Massage Therapist in the State of Maryland.

Required Qualifications:

Associate's degree

Graduate of an approved massage therapy program. Current Maryland license in massage therapy (LMT).

Minimum of two years of experience working as a licensed massage therapist in a variety of settings, including self-employment and a minimum of three years of experience teaching classes/labs and supervising student clinic in a state approved Massage Therapy Program.

Ability to work flexible 40-hour weekly schedule, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the MAS program and SHS. Ability to travel to include but not limited to attending service-learning events, conferences, and workshops

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including but not limited to delivering lectures, presentations, and workshops

Demonstrated ability to work collegiately with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and community members on a regular basis

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software and technology and equipment associated with the practice of Massage Therapy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years experience working as a licensed massage therapist.
