AACC is a tenure-granting institution. Any candidate hired as a full-time faculty member may be eligible to apply for tenure in the future based on institutional eligibility requirements. AACC offers daytime, evening, weekend, hybrid and online classes. Full-time faculty contracts begin Aug. 16 and end June 15
Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. .

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Faculty for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department are initiative-taking, creative, enthusiastic, and engaging collaborators with the ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings to accommodate the department and college needs.
EMS faculty are responsible for delivering high-quality education and training to EMS students preparing them for state and national certification exams and field practice. Faculty conduct classroom lectures, hands-on skills labs, simulation, and mentorship during clinical rotations. This requires collaboration and teamwork to ensure students receive comprehensive and current EMS education.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to instruction in a variety of formats such as simulation, synchronous and asynchronous online education, in person traditional classroom format, clinical and laboratory education, course planning, curriculum enhancements, learning outcomes, maintaining attendance, posting grades, tutoring, mentoring, and following college procedures.
Maintain clinical competency and certification level in Emergency Medical Services. Participate in professional development to maintain their own certifications and continuing education to stay updated with advancements in emergency medical services.
Work with the EMS department faculty and staff to support emergency medical responder, emergency medical technician and paramedic level instruction through curriculum development in didactic (synchronous or asynchronous online or face to face instruction), psychomotor and clinical instruction, academic coaching, customer service, data support and documentation services that supports a diverse student population. Incorporate appropriate pedagogy with current technologies in the classroom, laboratory, clinical or simulation environment.
Work to maintain program compliance with accreditation standards according to American Heart Association, MIEMSS, CoAEMSP, CAHEEP, and institutional requirements such as learning outcome objectives and course/program review. Willingness to obtain MICRB certification within one year of hire. Comply with applicable college, state, federal rules, and regulations. Collaborate with education partners, business/industry, and/or external agencies as appropriate to promote the instructional mission and vision of AACC.
Provide oversight of facilities, equipment and student records. Maintain student records in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology-based programs (examples but not limited to: Colleague, CANVAS, Platinum Testing, EMCE).
Attend college professional development sessions, college/school/department meetings.
The EMS programs are year-round; summer hours are expected. Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms for teaching and assessing student learning; six office hours per week during the spring and fall terms which includes student advising and mentoring, professional development and department, school, and college/community service.
Required Qualifications:
Nationally registered paramedic: Maryland State certification preferred.
Associate’s degree or higher in health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
Three years or more of relevant experience in Emergency Medical Services as a paramedic.
Strong customer service, critical thinking skills and experience teaching adults.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive environment and the ability to deal tactfully with diverse internal and external constituents.
Three or more years teaching experience in an allied health field preferred in the pre-hospital field utilizing online (synchronous/asynchronous), classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical education techniques.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some evening and weekends to accommodate the needs of the EMS department and AACC.
Preferred Qualifications:
AHA BLS, ACLS or PALS instructor.
NAEMT Instructor, AMLS or PHTLS
Instructor I and II, certification through the International Accreditation for Fire Service Organizations
MICRB – Maryland State Instructor Certification
High-fidelity simulations experience; willingness to learn technology.
Experience with accreditation and recordkeeping software for skills and patient experiences.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs
Bilingual or other language proficiency.
