Contract Dates: August 16, 2026– June 15, 2027

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Mathematics Department at Anne Arundel Community College seeks a full-time instructor or assistant professor of mathematics with a proven ability to teach developmental and college-level mathematics courses including statistics. This position requires regular in-person instruction and online instruction. Additionally, a strong candidate should have a growth mindset, be collaborative, and possess a willingness to learn and try new pedagogy and technology in their courses.

Duties
• Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms – including face-to-face, online and/ or hybrid instruction and instruction at off-site locations (including high schools) depending on student need
• Six office hours per week during the fall and spring terms which may include student advising and mentoring
• Teaching and assessing student learning
• Professional development
• Department, school and college/community service
In addition to a faculty member’s primary responsibilities, the exceptional candidate will also demonstrate commitment and experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time faculty; part-time faculty
• Designing, formatting and delivering accessible curriculum for all learning modalities including distance education formats
• Training and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.)
• Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programs
• Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community
• Recruiting and marketing
• Advising students
• Devising retention strategies and activities
• Strengthening relationships and collaborative activities including K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics
• Minimum of 30 Credit Hours of teaching mathematics at a college
• Ability to teach a wide range of community college mathematics courses including developmental and credit-level courses
• Experience integrating technology and innovative teaching strategies to improve student learning
• Experience working collaboratively with colleagues

Preferred Qualifications:

• Community college teaching experience
• Experience teaching in face-to-face and online formats
• Ability to teach upper-level STEM courses such as the calculus series (Calculus 1, 2, and 3), Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and/or Discrete Structures
• Experience teaching statistics and/ or data science
• Experience in accelerated and/or technology-supported developmental mathematics pathways
• Knowledge of the mission of community colleges and issues directly related to serving community college students

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility.
