Position Summary

Contract Dates: August 16, 2026– June 15, 2027

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The position in nursing is in the following specialty areas: Critical Care and Medical Surgical Nursing. A strong nurse candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to teach introductory and upper college-level nursing students who are part of a diverse student population. Bi-lingual candidates are especially encouraged to apply. Experience in nursing guidelines for quality assurance, regulations, and proficiency testing, is required. Additionally, nursing skills, and the ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment as well as excellence in oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are expected and bi-lingual candidates are preferred. The position will require in state travel to affiliate clinical sites. Candidates should be committed to student-centered, outcomes-based education with experience incorporating multiple instructional strategies and the use of technology in teaching and learning. Teaching assignments are 15 faculty load hours per semester. Courses to be instructed include lectures (including online), lab, simulation, and activity classes in the Nursing program. Full-time faculty are expected to participate on committees in the department, school of health sciences, and the college. Additionally, candidates should be proven team-players with an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. Primary Responsibilities:
• Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms – including face-to-face, online or hybrid instruction and instruction at off-site locations depending on student need
• Six office hours per week during the fall and spring terms which may include student advising and mentoring
• Teaching and assessing student learning
• Professional development
• Department, school and college/community service
• May require working days, evenings, and or weekends

In addition to a faculty member’s primary responsibilities, the exceptional candidate will also demonstrate commitment and experience in one or more of the following areas:
1. Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time or part-time faculty
2. Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities
3. Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community
4. Devising retention strategies and activities
5. Establishing and strengthening relationships and collaborative activities with clinical partners and community organizations.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in nursing
Minimum of two years of current nursing experience in Critical Care and/or Medical Surgical Nursing One-year experience with teaching and curriculum
Demonstrated leadership skills
Current Registered Nurse license
CPR certified
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in nursing education
Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and team-based environments

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or EdD in Nursing) or a related field
Certification in a nursing specialty (e.g., CNE, FNP-BC, CNE-cl, CCRN, etc.)
Demonstrated excellence in classroom, clinical, or online teaching at the collegiate level
Experience in curriculum development, evaluation, and accreditation processes
Familiarity with simulation-based and technology-enhanced teaching methods
Evidence of student mentorship, advising, or supervision of clinical experiences
Proficiency with learning management systems

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia.
