Position Summary
The Research Analyst provides analytical and reporting support to the Planning, Research and Institutional Assessment (PRIA) Office. Under the general supervision of the Manager of External Reporting, this position supports the completion of internal and external reports and surveys and serves as a subject matter expert in advanced statistical analysis. Responsibilities include extracting, managing, and analyzing data from systems such as student information systems, enterprise resource planning platforms, and external sources such as the National Student Clearinghouse. A key focus of this position is delivering in-depth analytical and data expertise while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and internal reporting requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Complete federal, state, and MACC reports and surveys for the college in compliance with mandated deadlines, including IPEDS, MHEC, and Richmond Fed Survey of Community College Outcomes. Use relevant and appropriate research methods to ensure data accuracy and quality. Prepare and conduct annual data submission to the Postsecondary Data Partnership (PDP) to help the PRIA Office better track student progress and outcomes.
Collaborate with the Manager of External Reporting to manage internal data requests received by the PRIA Office. Manage data analysis for offices across the campus such as Admissions Office, Strategic Communications, and Financial Aid. Coordinate the gathering and verifying of institutional data including internal reporting needs.
In collaboration with the senior data visualization analyst, generate data tables and graphs for PRIA Research Briefs and other publications, and retrieve data from PAR, CCSSE, and other related sources.
Analyze and maintain data regarding online programs at AACC. Provide stakeholders with information on online program enrollments, graduations, and success metrics.
Using the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to track dually enrolled students before and after high school graduation. Provide college stakeholders as well as AACPS contacts with relevant student enrollment and success data.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by AVP and/or the Manager of External Reporting.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
Minimum of two years of experience.
Ability to gather, compile, and analyze research data in a variety of formats.
Experience working with large data sets required, including building queries as well as creating and merging reports from multiple systems.
Strong computer skills, including considerable experience with statistical analysis software, are required.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex analysis to a non-technical audience.
Experience in developing and making presentations. Strong problem-solving skills with ability to: respond to information requests quickly and on short notice; work effectively, both independently and within a team environment; work in a fast-paced environment with attention to details and deadlines; and maintain state-of-the-art technical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an integrated relational database environment.
