Position Summary
Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Clinical Dentist to support the clinical education of dental hygiene students. This role is integral to ensure students receive high-quality, hands-on training in preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare while upholding the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professional ethics.
Pay rate: $1,170-$1,263/FLH
As a key member of our dynamic educational team, the Clinical Dentist will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world clinical practice. Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, including examinations, diagnostics, consultations, referrals, and management of medical emergencies.
2. Consult on cases involving medically compromised patients, ensuring appropriate modifications to treatment plans.
3. Prescribe, interpret, and diagnose conditions based on radiographic findings.
4. Oversee and approve patient treatment plans in accordance with state dental practice regulations and program guidelines.
5. Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed to support patient care and student learning.
6. Evaluate and support student performance through hands-on teaching and diverse instructional methods tailored to various learning needs.
7. Ensure strict compliance with infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations to maintain a safe and professional clinical environment.
8. Collaborate with faculty to enhance students’ clinical knowledge and skill development in evidence-based dentistry.
9. Educate students on professional and ethical responsibilities within a dental healthcare setting, reinforcing best practices.
10. Participate in faculty meetings, calibration sessions, and curriculum development discussions as needed.
11. Assist with and support the accreditation process, ensuring all required documentation is completed and maintained.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director, ensuring alignment with the mission and goals of the College and Dental Hygiene Program.
13. Prescribe medication as needed.
Required Qualifications:
. Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
2. Active dental license in the state of Maryland.
3. Current CPR/BLS certification.
4. Minimum of two years of clinical experience in general dentistry.
5. Previous experience in education, mentorship, or clinical supervision is preferred.
6. Possess knowledge of, and demonstrates proficiency in, current concepts in dental hygiene, dental hygiene education, clinical instruction, general dentistry, and clinical practice.
7. Strong communication and leadership skills with a passion for teaching and mentoring students.
8. Commitment to evidence-based dentistry, ethical practice, and lifelong learning.
9. Knowledge of dental software (e.g., Dentrix, TalEval) and electronic health records preferred.
