          Position Summary

          The Testing Assistant is responsible for administering all college-approved tests, including placement, nursing admissions, vendor testing, and special accommodation testing. Proctors are responsible for responding to student needs concerning testing procedures, appropriate course placement and other college resources. Testing Assistants must be proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 and have the ability to trouble shoot technical issues that arise on the various platforms. They must also be comfortable using multiple computer programs/software simultaneously. Testing Assistants are responsible for completing assigned tasks. They must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

          Job Duties and Responsibilities

          • Administer course based exams

          • Administer placement tests, including English/reading, math, and ESL tests.

          • Interview, assess and counsel students concerning educational background, test results and appropriate course placement; refer students to college resources as appropriate.

          • Administer exams to students needing accommodations for disabilities.

          • Adhere to test security guidelines and best practices and enforce testing policies

          • Provide guidance to students concerning the next steps after testing.

          • Maintain proctor certification requirements

          • Clerical work such as processing exam submissions, answering emails and phone calls

          • Other duties as assigned by the Director.

          Required Qualifications:

          Associate of Arts degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

          Demonstrated knowledge of testing procedures; federal state and college regulations governing testing services and of college resources and curriculum requirements preferred.

          Working knowledge of computer databases, word processing and computerized scoring preferred.

          Ability to type accurately at moderate speed and perform data entry functions accurately.

          Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.

          Working knowledge of federal laws and state regulations governing the delivery of services to students with special needs.

          Effective oral and written communication skills.

          Ability to work with minimal supervision with attention to detail.

          Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including day, weekend, and evening hours, to accommodate the needs of the department and college.

          Ability and willingness to deal effectively with students, faculty and staff while providing exemplary customer service.

          Proficiency in using multiple computer systems, software and assistive technologies.

          Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 2010 or higher or most current version used by the college.
