Position Summary

The Program Support Clerk staff member is responsible for providing clerical support to the Success Through Education Program at Ordance Road Correctional Center (ORCC). The Program Support Clerk staff member works with staff, students, and instructors. Duties include answering phone calls, email, taking meeting minutes, and reviewing registration forms to ensure they are complete.

This position reports to the Director and Coordinator, Correctional & Continuing Education.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT: Participate in student orientations on the first day of class and assist with preparing paperwork prior to the first day of class. Prepare student folders, draft class list, and gather course materials for each education session.

PROGRAM CLERICAL SUPPORT: Provide daily administrative duties to support implementing the continuing education classes. Prepare instructors folders with class list, ORCC attendance sheets, class survey sheets, and the sign-in sheets.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COLLABORATION: Assist the Coordinator and Director COR & Continuing Education by preparing course materials, rosters and other related documents.

REPORTING: Assist with printing and submitting the weekly attendance sheets, print and route certificates for signature, take minutes at the weekly team meeting. After each education session provide clerical support as assigned to prepare for the start of a new education session.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED

Minimum of six months of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in adult education or youth education programs. Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office, as well as excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural populations and ability to work effectively and tactfully with students, instructors, staff, community representatives, government agencies and the public. Exercise good judgment, work with minimal supervision, and with attention to details and deadlines. Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the program.

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive  benefits package .

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility.
