Work Mode: This position requires regular in-person presence on campus and at alternative locations, depending on class schedule and other assigned duties.

Hours Per Week: Flexible - days, evenings, weekends depending on course assignment.

Position Summary

New position available for SPRING 2026 on Saturday Afternoons for the Spring semester. This is an 8 week accelerated skills lab. In person class with the following dates: : January 24, 31; February 7, 14, 21, 28; and March 7 & 14.

 

Part time faculty position located at the Arnold campus. Instructor is responsible for classroom and/or lab instruction in the field of Medical Assisting. The instructor is to follow the curriculum outline and learning expectations as provided. Content is housed in Canvas (online learning platform). Instructors must have some computer experience, expertise in the Medical Assisting field (ambulatory setting) and the ability to effectively manage a classroom. A desire to share your knowledge of the Medical Assisting field is a must! Instructors will be required to adhere to Anne Arundel Community College’s Adjunct Faculty Instructional policies and procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Prepare materials needed for instruction, labs, and supplies.
2. Provide basic lab maintenance and track inventory of equipment and tools utilized.
3. Relate instruction and material to course objectives.
4. Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, personal/patient safety, and infection control.
5. Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, other faculty, and staff.
6. Submit grades, attendance, reports, and records in a timely manner.
7. Refer students for assistance services as needed.
8. Collaborate with the Academic Chair to ensure all competencies are being met.
9. Promote the program in a positive light and recruit new students by attending recruitment events.
10. Prepare students to sit for a national medical assistant certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Medical Assistant and/or the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant.

Required Qualifications:

1. active certification CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or CCMA (NHA) and CPT (NHA) plus current AHA CPR certification
2. minimum of 3 years’ experience practicing as a medical assistant in an ambulatory setting
3. minimum of 1 year of medical assistant trainer/supervisor experience
4. minimum of an associate degree, experience and references could substitute for AA/AAS degree, e.g., Extensive work experience, Military experience, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Desired candidates will have previous teaching experience, have graduated from an ABHES or CAAHEP post-secondary accredited program, and/or be a military veteran (Corpman).
2. Bi-lingual, have a diverse background.
